Ramoji Film City

We decided to spend the second day of our Hyderabad stay ‘Bollywood style’ at Ramoji Film City (certified - largest film studio complex in the world!). Ramoji is also theme park dedicated to the Indian movie industry.

Others on the tour we booked were Indian, so I peeps were curious of me, sparking the usual conversations. We met a very nice family from Kerala. The mother asked for our contact details so that we could help find a job for her son in England. We explained that we didn’t have any contacts in the shipbuilding industry and she seemed surprised.

We spent the morning touring the film sets. They seem to have a set for every major city/region of India.

The afternoon is spent in the theme park area. We watch a wild west stunt show performed by Nepalese and then queue up for the ‘Film Ki Duniya’ (world of film) ride. It turns out to be a walking pace tour of themed rooms, each representing a different country in the world (complete with animatronic people waving). Very cheesy, but very funny.

I feel like a minor celebrity again as whilst leaving I’m surrounded by a large group of people wanting to shake hands and chat. The children queue up to say hi and then a chap pops up with a video camera to film the historic event!
